Site Manager

Grade G, Point 8 – 12 (£20,493 - £20,493 - £22,183)

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Rowan Gate is a continually evolving and highly successful primary school for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties with sites in Wellingborough and Rushden, Northamptonshire and recently opened satellite class at a local infant school in Rushden.

We will have a vacancy for a Site Supervisor to start with effect from 29th May 2021 or as soon as possible following a successful Enhanced DBS check, 

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be based at the Rushden site undertaking Site Supervisory duties but will oversee the work of the Site Supervisor based at our Wellingborough site and manage whole school site issues under the management of the Business Manager and in liaison with the Bursar.  Due to the nature of the school all applicants should be able and willing to work at either site, as required.

The post is full-time, 37 hours per week.  Daily working hours will be open to negotiation but there is an expectation that all job holders will be able to start work at 7.30 am at the latest and be available for emergency call-outs out of school hours. There may be an opportunity for additional hours through lettings and after school events.

The salary scale of this post is based on the Local Government Pay Scales and grades advised by Northamptonshire Councils and reflects the responsibility for the specialist facilities and equipment within this special school setting, to include sensory room, softplay room, hydrotherapy pool (at Wellingborough site) hoists and other specialist provision.

The main duties will include:

  • The security of the premises and its contents
  • Energy management and plant operation
  • Porterage and minor maintenance services
  • Environmental management
  • Maintenance of an acceptable standard of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Supervision of external cleaning staff
  • Maintenance of good public relations
  • Supervision of the external use of school facilities
  • Managing the operation of our hydrotherapy pool (applicants will be required to undertake Small Pool Operators training)

2 x FTE CLASS TEACHERS

Teachers Pay Scale + Special Needs Allowance 1

Rowan Gate is a continually evolving and highly successful primary school for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties with sites in Wellingborough and Rushden, Northamptonshire and recently opened satellite class at a local infant school in Rushden.

Due to an anticipated increase in pupil numbers in September 2021 and the possible opening of another satellite class, we will have vacancies, with effect from 1st September 2021, for qualified, imaginative and creative teachers, one of whom will have experience of Early Years Foundation Stage.  Consideration will be given to applicants in search of a part-time appointment although appointment to a part-time contract will be dependent upon our being able to form an informal job-share. 

The successful candidates will be high quality practitioners, with excellent class management skills and experience of working with pupils with a statement of educational needs in a primary school setting.  Class structures are reviewed annually in the Summer, depending on the needs of the pupils, and therefore candidates may be required to work at either site, as necessary.

Successful candidates will:

  • Hold qualified teacher status
  • Have at least two years’ experience of working with primary aged pupils and PGCE or TSA experience will be considered as part of this
  • Be enthusiastic and creative
  • Have a dedication to the achievement and welfare of every child
  • Have experience of developing and adapting curriculum and schemes of work to meet the needs of pupils with barriers to learning.
  • Have knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice
  • Have experience of contributing and gathering evidence for an Annual Review
  • Have experience of tracking progress of SEN pupils through school-based assessment such as B-squared

Teaching Assistant SEN Level 2

Grade E, Point 4-5

39 weeks per year (term time plus 5 Training Days)

Rowan Gate is a continually evolving and highly successful primary school for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties with sites in Wellingborough and Rushden, Northamptonshire and recently opened satellite class at a local infant school in Rushden.

Due to staff resignations and the anticipated increase in pupil numbers, we will have several vacancies for permanent Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team, to start as soon as possible although some start dates can be delayed until 1st September 2021.  The posts will be permanent part-time contracts for 33.75 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year. Consideration will be given to applications for part-week applications but this will be subject to the ability to form informal job-shares.

Successful candidates will be appointed to work at any of the Rowan Gate School sites and all applicants should be able and willing to work at either site or the satellite class.  As far as possible staff will be allocated to a specific site/class on an annual basis but travel between sites may be necessary on occasion.

General Information about the post

As mentioned above, the post will be for 33.75 hours per week, consisting of the following working pattern, with ½ hour unpaid lunch break:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 8.40 am – 3.30 pm

Tuesday – 8.40 am – 5.00 pm (staff training/update from 3.30 pm – 5.00 pm)

Thursday – 8.40 am – 4.00 pm (staff class time from 3.30 pm – 4.00 pm)

Rowan Gate Primary School is an outstanding school, committed to the professional development of all its staff.  However, due to the complex nature of our pupils, experience of pupils with special needs is desirable, preferably (but not exclusively) within a special school setting.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Experience of working with primary aged pupils with SEN in a school environment
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification, registered with Ofqual.
  • Good Literacy and Numeracy skills (preferably a minimum of GCSE Grade C or its equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Team Teach and PECS
  • Excellent IT and keyboard skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Positive attitude to self-improvement and training
